Stone cladding can be a successful way of dressing up these types of windows. Usually this treatment would involve making a stone window surround, and then going "above and beyond" to cladding both sides in the same stone. This can look very classy, and achieves the desirable repetition of elements which is often a part of good design. For example, the carved stone of the entryway may be repeated on wall caps, window surrounds, on a chimney or, in this case, the dormers.
